Agriculture is such an amazing field. In them fields there are many a crop. One thing we know is that the development of agriculture probably occured in several places and not soley in one country. Farming is widespread. Western Asia, Egypt and India are among the earliest sites for agricultural related activities. The Americas and parts of Africa also consists of peoples in the farming areas. Some of the earliest crops were wheat, barley and chick peas. Irrigation was always an issue. People had many thoughts. How do you control the water from going where you don't want it? Where do I cultivate lands so I can get a steady stream of water? Is the flood season finished. That idiot built his house in a flood plain. What did I do with my plow? Somebody ate my ox. There is nothing easy about farming. One has to spend the whole day doing the necessary prep work for making the ground fertile, seeding, pest control, irrigation, weed control , harvesting and transport. In the ancient times good labor was hard to come by. A "farmer" had to do it all on his own. These were after the days of hunting and gathering. Here's a cool publication Amber Waves
